Pre Medical Internship (paid position)
Anderson Sport and Wellness in Newport Beach, CA is seeking students who are interested in gaining experience in the medical setting to join our paid outpatient orthopedic physical therapy internship. No previous experience required. Schedule is flexible. This internship is a great opportunity for students who are: preparing for physical therapy graduate programs, athletic training programs, medical school, nursing, or physician assistant programs. The internship can be customized based on the particular type of experience the student seeks.
There are two tracks for internship opportunities at Anderson Sport and Wellness.
1. The paid internship we offer involves bi-weekly mentoring and skill development one-on-one with a specialist-level physical therapist and a weekly small group mentoring/quiz session.
2. There is a highly selective 1 on 1 mentoring and skill development internship opportunity that involves daily mentoring and hands-on experience with a specialist level physical therapist. There are more details on our website under the "we are hiring page" regarding that opportunity. Space is limited in either track and the internship is highly competitive.
The therapy technology and methods used at our clinic are primarily found in the professional sports setting, this is a great opportunity for any student who wants to be exposed to cutting-edge physical therapy methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following: Executes therapeutic activities such as teaching exercises and applying modalities as directed by the supervising therapist, training is provided. Cleans, sterilizes, and prepares equipment in accordance with company policy and guidelines. Keeps current with laundry and maintains an adequate stock of supplies. Participates in front desk duties such as answering phones, scheduling patients, and other administrative tasks. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Earn hours required for graduate school.
- Improve interpersonal and professional skills by: interacting with patients, guiding patients through exercises, performing evidence-backed modalities under therapist supervision and receive coaching and feedback.
- Understand physical therapy electronic medical records and documentation systems and gain experience utilizing them under supervision.
- Receive exposure and training in many unique rehabilitative modalities, including but not limited to:
- Cupping/myofascial decompression therapy
- Vibration technology including rapid release technology and purewave technology
- Myofascial release/MELT Method
- Normatec Pulse Technology
- Lumbar/cervical mechanical traction/decompression
- Neuro-Bio-Electric Stimulator (Neubie)
- Frequency Specific Microcurrent
- Participate in a rigorous 3-month training program including responsibility to learn specific exercises each week and accountability to apply modalities correctly. There will be weekly small group format quizzes and a 30-minute bi-weekly personal coaching meeting with a seasoned physical therapist.

Job Types: This is a highly selective paid internship with a 180 hour commitment. Most students complete the internship in 3-4 months. If there is a position open in the clinic when your internship is complete you are eligible to be hired on to our team.
